How to Choose a Home Audio Amplifier
Start with your speakers and space
Before choosing an amplifier, check your speaker impedance and power handling, then consider how you will use the system.
Power and channels
- 2.0 channel is a good fit for stereo music and TV with two passive speakers.
- 2.1 channel adds a subwoofer output for stronger low end.
- Choose a rated output that comfortably matches your speakers without over-driving them.
Inputs and connectivity
Bluetooth is convenient for phones and tablets. RCA and AUX inputs work with CD/DVD players, TVs, turntables with a preamp, and computers.
Controls
Bass, treble, master volume, and subwoofer controls make it easier to tune the sound to the room.
