How to Improve TV Sound with a Simple Stereo Amplifier

Why TV speakers sound thin

Most TV speakers are small and limited by the TV body. Adding a stereo amplifier and a pair of passive speakers is a practical way to get clearer dialogue and fuller music without a full AV receiver.

What you need

  • Stereo amplifier with RCA or Bluetooth input
  • One pair of passive speakers
  • RCA or AUX cable, or a Bluetooth connection

Simple setup steps

  1. Turn the amplifier off.
  2. Connect the left and right speakers to the matching outputs.
  3. Connect the TV output to the amplifier input using RCA or AUX.
  4. Power on, set the amplifier to the correct input, and start at a low volume.

Quick fixes

  • No sound: check the input source and speaker polarity.
  • Distorted sound: lower the source volume and check speaker impedance.
  • Weak bass: adjust bass/treble and speaker placement.
